Our ‘Short Film’ segment wants to try to showcase the work of budding women + LGBT directors. This doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be making films as a profession, or submitting them to festivals, you can submit something you made for a school project, or just experimental stuff you’ve shot by yourself or with friends. All we need is a bit of writing about yourself and the film, and a working public YouTube/Vimeo link. Click here for more details on how to submit.
My Body is a Vessel for Dreams and Nightmares is an experimental short film by Rena Johnson. The film stars her sister Sala Johnson and has an original score by JP Garcia. Rena loves to explore themes of girlhood and wanted to capture something more haunting, paranoid, and fragmented about these years of adolescence. This was her first time shooting 8mm film (shot on a cheap super 8 camera she bought at a charity shop) and she hopes to work more in this medium in the future.
