Women’s Voices Now is a non-profit organisation that supports women film-makers and the fight for equality globally. For the last 5 years they have hosted an online film festival that gives women around the world a chance to submit their films for streaming on their site and a chance to win cash prizes of up to 10k and have recently opened submissions for their 2018 festival.
There are multiple categories to choose from from Documentary Feature/Short, Narrative Short and Experimental Film, the submissions gateway can be accessed via filmfreeway.com
Through the festival and their online streaming platform where you can see films from international women filmmakers on women’s issues and politics, WVN is “leading by example that films and activism work together to inspire people to be and create the change they want to see in themselves and in their communities” says Executive
Director, Heidi Basch-Harod. Basch-Harod believes that the multi-lingual access to the online platform is a real way to engage with people about women’s issues through the medium of film, she says “We see women of all colours and walks of life protecting themselves and their communities from the adverse economic, social, cultural, and political challenges humankind faces in the 21st century. Witnessing these stories through the medium of film creates solidarity toward the common goals of women’s rights”.
The deadline for film submission for the 5th annual Women’s Voices Now festival is February 5th, or the Late
Deadline on February 15th. Anyone selected for the festival with be notified by February 26th.
