FILM SUBMISSION: ‘Interviews for the position “Friend”‘ by Alex Hanson

1

Our ‘Women Film-Makers’ segment wants to try to showcase the work of budding women directors. This doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be making films as a profession, or submitting them to festivals, you can submit something you made for a school project, or just lil experimental stuff you’ve shot by yourself or with friends. All we need is a bit of writing about yourself and the film, and a working YouTube/Vimeo link. Click here for more details on how to submit.

A young woman holds interviews for candidates applying to be her friend. Her questions are dry, her tone is ruthless, and more often than not, she asks the candidates to leave before they have even completed the interview. She declares the boy who works at the coffee shop and the girl looking for a carpool buddy unfit for the position, but it is the girl she sees at the bus stop every day that forces her to reconsider the way she approaches the process of making friends.
This project was made as a part of one of Alex’s fall 2015 classes at NYU, ‘The Search for Cinematic Storytelling Identity’, taught by Pedro Cristiani.
Writing, Producing, Directing, and Editing by Alex Hanson
Cinematography by Dan Linh Nguyen Phan
Starring Nicole Bade, Ariana DiValentino, Ada Obieshi, and Brian Zapiecki
Special Thanks to Pedro Cristiani, Tom Fields, NYU Gallatin, and the Fall 2015 Search for Cinematic Storytelling Identity Class.

CHLOEChloe Leeson is 19 and from the north of England (the proper north). She believes Harmony Korine is the future and is pretty sure she coined the term ‘selfie central’. She doesn’t like Pina Coladas or getting caught in the rain but she does like Ezra Miller & Dane DeHaan a whole lot. Her favourite films are The Beach, Lords of Dogtown and Into the Wild. But DON’T talk to her about Paranormal Activity. She rants @kawaiigoff.
