The Christmas movie countdown is our way of sharing the movies that get us in the festive mood, every day until xmas (kinda like an advent calender, minus the chocolate, sorry)
So I think I speak for everyone when I say Ghostbusters 2 simply wasn’t as good as the original. However, as I think my house is haunted, I feel a moral obligation to watch any film about the supernatural. Comedy too? An added bonus!
I’m not sure if you can really call the film a Christmas movie, but its set in winter and everyone’s feeling festive so I think we’ll just let it slide.
It’s an 1889 supernatural comedy, directed by Ivan Reitman. 5 years after the events in the first film the team have been sued and riddled with legal cases for the damage they caused to the big apple. The business is going nowhere and the team are stuck at a dead end. However when the child of single mother Dana Barret is suddenly the target of a demonic spirit the superstars get back in the game! When an underground river of slime is running through the sewers of your city, is there really anyone else you’re to call?
I think it’s a real side splitter.
DOES IT PASS THE BECHDEL TEST??
Well unfortunately no. There are more than two women in the movie, but at no point do they talk about something other than a man…
