The Christmas movie countdown is our way of sharing the movies that get us in the festive mood, every day until xmas (kinda like an advent calender, minus the chocolate, sorry)

Edward ScissorHands A film that will warm your heart in Winter! Directed by Tim burton and with Edward Scissorhands being played by a very young Johnny Depp it tells the story of a ‘uncommonly gentle man’: a monster on the outside, an unfinished creation with scissors for hands. Yet we- like the characters in the movie- fall for the gentle hearted and good looking Edward. The story is set within neat Suburbia, we watch as Edward brings colour and shape, falls in love with beautiful Kim- she seeing only his beauty, and even creates snow.  Yet for all its hope we only have more to lose when it all ends in tragedy! And the sadness we never forgot: when Kim asks him to hold her his simple reply: “I can’t” A must watch at Christmas!!!!!

DOES IT PASS THE BECHDEL TEST??

There is definitely more than two women in Edward Scissorhands but the majority of their conversations are about Edward, but being such a strange and unusual character, and the centre of the story, what else are they to talk about in their dull suburban lives?
